The Javaberry Cafe Presents...Waspinator
|
||||
Poor, poor Waspinator. Easily one of the most heavily abused of the Beast Wars cast, this injured soul suffers an astonishing number of explosions and dismemberments in the Beast Wars animated series, and in the fanfics of people who remain faithful to the unwritten edict of "Waspinator shalt suffer physical torment at least once an episode". In addition, some people claim that he is an uncharismatic bore who's "just a voice", typifying everything that's wrong with Beast Wars... unlike, say, Soundwave from Generation 1 Transformers. Although he spends a great deal of time buzzing angrily or sorrowfully or resignedly to himself, there is little that is actually known of Waspinator. Assuming that what he says in private and to himself is the unvarnished truth, it would appear that he has a strong need to "belong" and be respected for his abilities; unfortunately, his main ability is his uncanny regenerative qualities and pop-apart/snap-together joints, and as a result all the "dirty work" is assigned to him. Despite the fact that he has the physical qualities of a female wasp, Waspinator appears to be male in robot form and personality. Despite the fact that wasps are not noted for their love of honey and other sweet sweet substances, Waspinator is remarked to go on sugar-binges from time to time. For a while, it was suspected that Waspinator was in fact the Generation 1 Autobot Bumblebee, cleverly disguised with a funny accent, and sent to infiltrate the Predacon ranks. While this would have (maybe) explained the addiction to sweet substances, it has yet to be proven. . . .
