September 1999IRC SPEAK |
||||
I actually agonized whether to just have an online Bulletin Board/Board room and just use that as a diary-slash-rant page, but I decided that it'd be too much trouble to ensure that people didn't scribble stuff in without my permission. So I'm back to my traditional style of typing up a diary entry/rant offline in HTML form, and uploading it to the website when I find the time. Bwaaaah. Oh, and I've taken up the bad habit of using a unique type of IRC-speak in my writing. Here's a brief guide to what they mean:
I *think* that's about it. Oh, and the stars tend to denote emphasis, such as a word
meant to be in italics (although in some programs it defaults into BOLD print). Although
stars used like this
I also sometimes use /slashes to indicate the parts that should be in Italics/, although this isn't an IRC habit, but something I picked up in junior high school when I did a lot of my writing by hand, and had no word processor with italics capabilities. And when I do _this_, the underscores represent the fact that the word should be underlined. This... wasn't a rant as such, I now realize. But hopefully it will have made my writing and conversations a little less incoherent and bewildering. . . .
