Preamble
The weak of stomach should be warned; my poetry tends towards the sentimental,
and I often use flowery/archaic language just for the heck of it.
As well, my poetry tends to be highly structured. For example, I enjoy writing Shakespearean
and Petrarchan Sonnets in my spare time; these have a very formal structure, in that they have
to have 10 syllables per line, a distinctive "rhythm", and a strict rhyming pattern. Some of
the other poetry I have written also has interesting syllabic or linguistic patterns to them...
sometimes I have to bend the words and sentences to make them fit!
Although I've won First Place and Honourable Mention in two different writing contests in
the past, it's interesting (or pathetic) to note that only the short stories I wrote got
any notice; the poems were completely ignored.
Some of these poems are examples of this structured, planned-out type of poetry. Others are
more like outpourings of emotion, focussed and crystallized into a single tangible creation.
Commentary, if any, will be included on a separate page.
