Cheetor

Mew. I am Cheetor. Mew.

Cheetor comes from a long and prestigious line of such notables as HotRod, Robin, Buster Bunny and Handy Smurf; in other words, he is a Courageous and Adventurous Young Male Who Is All Set to Take On the Mantle Of Leadership As Soon As Poppa Smurf Kicks the Bucket. Typically, these characters are head-strong, vaguely sidekick-ish, yet clearly meant to be "cool" and "hip", in order to appeal to young adolescent males.

Cheetor also neatly fits into the comic-book stereotype of "superheroes whose superpower involves moving at high speed are hot-headed and will almost certainly act without thinking first", either due to the fact that his alternate mode is a cheetah, or due to the fact that he is (for lack of a better term) rather slow.

Depending on the episode he appears in, he ranges from "brash, angry young 'bot who wishes that everyone would take him more seriously, and acts without thinking as a result" or "genial, well-meaning young 'bot who only wants to help, and acts without thinking as a result".

Unfortunately for him, the other cast members of Beast Wars are quick to take advantage of this personality trait. Dinobot, Silverbolt, Black Arachnia... the list goes on and on. At the end of the day, Cheetor is everyone's patsy.

Another example of Cheetor's stunning intelligence are his ability to say things like "Better dead than Pred!" in former Predacon Dinobot's presence; his ability to run, fly, or walk into heavy objects at amusingly high speeds; and finally, his ability to come up with nifty phrases like "Ultra-gear!"

Although some Cheetor supporters
("Cheetor supporters": noun, mythical beings who are allegedly young adolescent males and females who wish that everyone would take Cheetor more seriously, since Cheetor only wants to help.)
protest that it is unfair to judge Cheetor with the same intellectual ruler as the other Maximals, and suggest that his apparently incompetence, idiocy, and annoying-ness may be a result of his relative youth and inexperience, it is equally possible that all of the above are the result of Cheetor being repeatedly dropped on his head while a protoform.

Despite the fact that he has a "I'll never let go, Jack!"-style scene in the Japanese translation of Beast Wars, Cheetor insists that he does not have a romantic relationship with Maximal leader Optimus Primal, and claims that he and "Big Bot" are "just friends".
